Sonny Tillman

Tillman opened the first Sonny’s in Gainesville, Florida, in 1968. Initially a franchise of another BBQ joint called Fat Boy’s, Tillman eventually struck out on his own, building Sonny’s BBQ into a regional favorite known for its slow-smoked meats and Southern hospitality. The original Gainesville location still operates today, a testament to Tillman’s enduring influence.
